There are yogurts on the market like greek yogurt that don't have sugar added and come close to SCD yogurt, but the problem with all commercial yogurts is that they don't ferment them long enough for the bacteria to consumme all the lactose, and lactose is what feeds the bad bacteria in your gut which you are trying to eliminate with the SCD diet.
With SCD yogurt, you are suppose to ferment it for at least 24-30 hours to give the bacteria enough time to consume all the lactose.
Also, probiotic pills don't supply anywhere near the amount of bacteria 1 cup of yogurt has, if you want to get the full benefit of the SCD diet, yogurt is the only way to go.
I make my yogurt from 100% heavy cream and it is alot more fluffy and tasty then yogurt made from milk, plus it has a lot more calories if you are looking to put on weight.
