Hi everyone,

I am looking for some advice. I am in a flare right now. Is been a year since my last one. I was put on humira last April for a bad flare after 7 years post op resection with no meds. I was so scared as I work in EMS and am already with sick people. Well, humira worked well for my crohns but not for me. I was always sick with virus's. I also had horrible congestion and bad bone and joint pain to the point I could work out. I stayed on it for exactly 6 months. All scans showed remission. I have been good till a couple weeks ago. I want so badly to be successful with the SCD diet but I am so uncomfortable that I can't wait for it to work. I have a GI appt Tuesday. I don't think I can do humira again. Any other suggestions?

I would consider trying another biologic. I was on humira for 3 months last year and had significant side effects. I went back to remicade and am doing well GI-wise. Just because humira was a problem doesn't mean you can't try another biologic.

Thank you for your response. Being that I started with Humira, Any suggestions as to which one? Remicade or Entyvio (not sure yet if I can get it) ?

Remicade is still the state of the art treatment for Crohn's. It has a very high success rate. I would start with Remicade for sure. Even though it's essentially the same as Humira, most seem to report better success with less side effects.

I saw my Dr and she wants me in a trial for etrolizumab. Good idea or bad idea?

What's the reasoning behind skipping Remicade, and going to a newer drug?

My Dr says she is concerned that if Remicade doesn't work the clinical trial will be closed (most likely) and I won't have any drugs left. She said if I do this at least I have a readily available option if things don't work. I run the risk that if it works and the trial ends.. Would I not have access anymore to this drug? I have never done a clinical trial before. I generally have moderate disease.
