Hi guys,

I've been on Cimzia for the last 5 years.  In the last few months, my electricity has gone out several times.  Since I can't really chance the medicine getting above the specified temperature, I was looking into an alternative, maybe even a refrigerator that can be travel friendly, battery operated, etc.?  The ones I have seen look too small for the Cimzia shots.  Does anyone have any experience with utilizing one of these to keep their medicines cool?

Yep. I'll probably head down that route. But if I'm going to spend the money, I would prefer to have something that can travel with me, just in case.

There are small refrigerators made for RVs and (car) camping. They should be able to run off a 12-volt battery.

If you're going to be running it off a battery, better to purchase a deep-cycle battery (and trickle charger) rather than car battery. The batteries in cars are not made to be fully discharged and recharged - that will ruin them in short order. Also, the charger should be one of these new models that stops recharging when the battery is fully charged (overcharging will ruin a battery too).

Some models of RV refrigerators are "absorption refrigerators" which can run off of heat - thus, they can be run by burning propane as well as other heat sources. I know that sounds a little counter-intuitive, but it's true.
