I have had Crohn's for the last 17 or 18 years. This past year I have had 2 major flares that were accompanied by lots of upper GI symptoms, nausea, stomach pain, abdominal cramps, bloody D and a weight loss of 30+ pounds. The bloody D disappeared after 2 rounds of pred. The colonoscopy and endoscopy revealed some patchy active Crohn's and some mild chronic gastritis but not enough to account for my symptoms. The GI has ruled out Celiac, cortisol deficiency, lymphocytic Crohn's and a bunch of other things. A HIDA scan recently showed an "overactive" gallbladder and the GI prescribed Colestid, which I understand is used off label for D. My current symptoms include continued nausea, heartburn, stomach pain, abdominal cramps, gas and mild constipation- No D. Side effects from the Colestid include stomach pain, nausea, gas and constipation. Does taking Colestid make any sense at all?
