So since the end of May I've been flaring. I've had uveitis twice and had issues with the skin on my face, mainly around my nose, cracking and peeling, flaking and being Red and itchy. The seem told me that it's either seborrhic dermatitis or psoriasis (it didn't look like psoriasis to me). So she gave me ketokonizal to use for a month until I see her and hydrocortisone to only use for two weeks. Well of course the two weeks while using both creams my skin looked great. I've been off the steroid now and my face is slowly regressing.

My Gi has restated me on 6mp for my crohns and at the time the derm though maybe the 6mp was suppressing the skin issues (we stopped it because I was going to try for a baby but that's now on hold)

Has anyone had skin issues along with their disease? I swear in the past four months I'm slowly falling apart with no end in sight sad

I don't have the extra-intestinal skin problems that I've read about, but my skin has taken a hit these last half-dozen years. I think mine is at least partly caused by medications over-drying my skin. It was really bad while I was on Cymbalta. My feet would crack and bleed due to the severe dryness it induced.

I never had skin issues until recently and since crohns affects everything it's so hard to pin down what is doing what. Argh.

I've had seborrheic dermatitis for 16-18 years now. It's almost always there, whether I'm flaring or not. It's a relatively common skin issue among the general population, whether or not the person has Crohn's.

Mine goes away anytime I'm on steroids, whether prednisone, a medrol dosepak, or even Entocort. But as soon as I stop the steroids, it comes right back. Like you said, itchy, flaky red skin around the sides of the nose. I also get it around my eyebrows, and sometimes patches on my forehead, chin, and/or my scalp. That's the common pattern with seborrheic dermatitis.

You can use over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone cream on it. Just a little dab once or twice a day - and only as much as you need (ie, it's best not to over-use it because it is a steroid cream). I'm able to keep mine fairly well under control without using hydrocortisone cream most of the time, but sometimes I do use it for a few days here and there.

I'm currently on Entocort so it's better than it was but not as good as my baseline or how it was with the prescription hydrocortisone. I don't need much hydrocortisone since it's located but I was nervous using it frequently because it's a steroid.

I'm currently on Entocort as well! My seb derm was totally gone on 3pills/day. I'm now down to 2pills/day, and the seb derm is still mostly gone, but a little of it has come back. When I drop down to 1pill/day in a couple more weeks, I bet the seb derm will come back more.

Im on 3 pills a day and it has helped but didnt clear it completely. Ill be on this dose for at least another month so maybe it will do a little more. I hope this doesnt come back after I stop the steroids but after all this I'm not fully confident.
