How long before entocort starts working?

sorry to always be posting questions. For awhile my disease was status quo but now it's just spiraled out of control. I've never had it like this so its all new to me.

I've been flaring ever since I stopped 6mp (we wanted to try for a baby and thought the humira was the primary drug helping). I've been on 9mg of entocort for a month now and feel minimally different. I'm still able to eat and move my bowels but I have the same amount of discomfort and keep getting uveitis. I had it last months and of course prednisone drops fixed it until I stopped the drops. Then it comes back. I see my eye doctor again tomorrow.

I was really hoping the entocort was going to stop this flare but am I rushing it? Or is a month long enough to know? We did restart the 6mp and I've only been on it two weeks. I know that it can take three months to start to be fully effective. I keep hoping that after a month it would help since a month after stopping it I began to have symptoms again.

Thanks for listening to me vent. I'm just so frustrated and tired of being sick. I know it sounds whiny but it's hard sometimes to go through the motions that things are fine and when you look fine people think you're ok. And sometimes I really don't feel ok.

Can you remind us where your disease is located? Entocort primarily helps with disease in the terminal ileum and the ascending (right side) colon. If you have disease elsewhere, it won't help that area very much. Also, it generally isn't strong enough for more severe disease. It's most effective for mild to moderate inflammation.

Secondly, how much 6mp were you on? And how often do you take Humira? Any chance you've developed antibodies to Humira?

The effects of Entocort were always minimal for me. I think it helped a little, but never as dramatic as prednisone. I have heard it can take up to 6 weeks for some to see a difference though.

I have ben on Entocort for 3 years and a half now. You feel some improvement after 6 weeks. I started off at 3 mg and then upped the dose to 6 mg. It is a non-systemic drug so it won't help your uveitis. Double-check w your ophthalmologist as both pred and Entocort caused me eye dryness and I had to take steroid drops too.
