Originally the date was set for 17th July, but the surgeon wanted to move it forward to the 10th July. I knew the hospital had been trying to get in touch with me and was dreading getting in touch, expecting the surgery to be delayed instead. It was a relief it wasn't that, tbh, so I agreed to the new date without much hesitation. It's not exactly like my diary is a social whirl these days, to put it very very very mildly.
The operation will be an ileorectal anastomosis. That's a join of the ileum to the rectum or, technically, the sigmoid since I still have some of my sigmoid colon left. Should be straightforward; not anticipating any major complications. I'm most worried about
the number of BMs and butt burn.
I'll be in the same crappy ward as last time, but my stay will probably be a bit shorter this time - more like, I dunno, 5 days as opposed to 8. It was too hot in
February
, so god knows what it will be like in July, particularly if this current heatwave carries on to next week: I will probably lose a stone through sweating alone.

Miranda,
Good Luck with everything. I'm sure you've been looking forward to this. Just really hope it all goes well and you're back on your feet as soon as possible. Please post as soon as you can.

Cheers, gumby, Tom, and BRelaxed >_>
Unfortunately there is no wifi in the hospital wards, so I probably won't be able to post until I come home. There are other ways of getting the internet, but they are expensive and a pain up the arse. The only way I'll be posting from hospital is if I can make it down 3 flights of steps to the cafeteria... :-/
As for walking, that shouldn't be a problem. I'm usually eager to get out of bed and go on a walkabout
. Particularly if there are annoying visitors outstaying their welcome...

Good luck NCOT! No wifi in the hospital ward? That sounds barbaric ;). I hope this surgery makes you feel better mentally and physically.

Once again, cheers folks :p (Nenagirl, it's nice to see you again. You should post more often... <_<)
Utterly lazy Sunday, so nothing new to report. I'll be going to the hospital on Tuesday for a blood test. I'm not really sure why they need it: if they don't know my blood type by now, when are they going to know it? (I'm B+ by the way.) Daren't skip it, just in case the blurb about
cancelling the operation is actually true.
I hope suebear's calmoseptine arrives by the 9th, but that's extremely unlikely :-/ As usual I'm leaving all the preparations to the last minute. I'll be on my own this time and so I want to have at least a week's supply of food in the freezer for when I come home: I probably won't feel like going out and I certainly won't be able to drive.
