Humira

the standard is 2 injections a month (one every 2nd week). But usually they start you off with a higher first initial dose if I remember correctly of 2 injections (others, feel free to correct me on this). I get my humira for 2 months at a time because of it's regulations. Maybe they only prescribed you one month in case you have a reaction to it so to see how you get on?

I had severe crohns and tried everything, but humira got me into remission for 4 years! It was amazing!! But now I'm flaring and humira is not working for me...but I'm still a big fan of it because I always thought remission was a distant dream, but it's possible, even with severe crohns!!

You're both a bit off, it's actually 4 shots all at once first, then 2 weeks later it's 2 shots, then from there it's typically one shot every 2 weeks (not technically twice a month, not bimonthly but biweekly as some months are longer than others) and Humira "trade name" is Adalimumab, but it's generally referred to simply as Humira.

I take it weekly myself since biweekly wasn't cutting it...and yes, each injection is 40mg

My GI not my GP perscribes it to me, all I did was ask him to up me to weekly and he did on the spot, that simple. It's an expensive drug but in Canada (where I live) they have subsidy for it, the most I pay is 25 dollar copay every 2 weeks and my other box to cover me for weekly is free through Progress set up by Humira (AbbVie, the company that makes it I believe). I had to get Alberta Blue Cross (118.00 month) to help pay for some of my Humira cost which coincides with the copay I pay at the pharmacy, still relatively cheap when you consider 118. a month along with 25 dollar copay a month.

I have a Humira coordinator that helped me get on to Alberta Blue Cross to have them help pay for some of my Humira...she also sets me up with getting my free Humira, so one time I'll go to the pharmacy and get it for free then 2 weeks later I pay 25 copay and monthly I pay 118 directly to ABC to help cover some of my Humira expense which is still a lot cheaper than 1700.00 a box for 2 pens.
