Hi, I used to use this forum a lot, but stopped logging in when i was well.
I am 26. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at 19- not the typical way... I was anaemic and so had scopes, and biopsies confirmed crohns in my terminal ileum, although they didnt "label" me with Crohns as I did have any symptoms. A few months later, I developed diarrhoea etc and so I was started on steroids and then on azathioprine. I eventually achieved control of my disease and actually stopped all meds 2 yrs ago.
I have been well for the past 2 yrs, with occasional twinges of pain/ some loose stools, but nothing major.
3 weeks ago, I started to get pain in the right lower side of my abdomen. This has been constant but occasionally really kicks in and im in agony. I have had some loose stools, but nothing compared to the last time i was unwell with my crohns. (average twice per day, rather than once per day which is normal for me)
In this time, I have moved cities and I dont yet have a gastroenterologist here. Anyway, yesterday the pain was really severe and my GP had me admitted to the hospital- she thought it was my appendix.
Bloods and and ultrasound scan were normal. (my CRP was 4!) They referred me to a gastroenterologist and I was discharged but with plans to have an MRI of my small bowel, a colonoscopy and and a follow up appointment in 4-6 weeks.
Thanks for reading, but my question is- could this really be Crohn's? Iv only had one flare up before and it felt so different to this! If my bloods are normal, and I dont really have diarrhoea, could it be my crohns when my only real symptom is pain?! They have taken a faecal calprotectin. I feel like they just said it could be crohns so they could discharge me. I didnt feel that the really trusted my Crohn's diagnosis.
I know this sounds stupid, and obviously I want my scans etc to be normal, but if they are, I really don't know what I'll say!
Thanks
