Ileitis-is this early crohns???

Hi I'm a 41 year old mum of three and was diagnosed with ileitis last week during colonoscopy where they found apthous ulcers in my ileum. I had the colonoscopy due to persistant lower right quadrant pain since October when I was admitted to hospital with suspected appendicitis. I have to go back in 3 weeks for the biopsy results but I've been googling ileitis and everything that comes up says crohns. Is this how crohns starts, with ileitis???

The predominate cause of ileitis is Crohn's disease. There are other causes though such as spondyloarthropathy, infectious disease, medication induced, etc. The diagnosis is made through biopsy, blood testing, scans or other tests and the patient's history.

Your symptoms do seem to point in the direction of Crohn's. Waiting the three weeks is difficult I know. Hang in there and let us know what the doctor tells you.

Thanks. I'd never even considered crohns as a diagnosis for my pain but now that I've been reading more about it the more it seems to explain a variety of things that I've been experiencing over the years. Just got to wait till 16th jan to get results

Hi,
I had the exact same diagnosis on my colonoscopy. The biopsies went to the lab but they all got lost!! So angry and frustrated! I then had a MRI scan & ultrasound both came back normal. I then went for another colonoscopy, the ulcers had dissapeared but I had an erosion.. My consultant still hasn't diagnosed this as chrons as he says he doesn't have enough evidence but still suspects it may be early stages.. So frustrating hope you get sorted :-)
