I have enteropathic arthritis and started on sulfasalazine over a year ago, which has helped my arthritis and intestinal symptoms. I hadn't tried it before because I had a sulfa allergy listed in my medical records, I guess from childhood since I don't recall having taken any sulfa drug in adulthood. Anyway, I tried it and I don't have a sulfa allergy after all. It was a commonly used IBD drug years ago, but some patients couldn't tolerate it. It's one of those meds you have to start in low doses and build up to minimize side effects. It's pretty inexpensive.
