LDN for anal fistula?

I talked with a GI at Mayo last week about LDN. He says it is really hit or miss who it works for and he thought it could only possibly help someone with mild Crohn's and would not recommend it to someone with moderate or severe Crohn's. I have heard Remicade works well for healing fistulas.

thanks eridon. did he say if it could support body in healing a fistula? My GI workup is negative for Crohns. though it is a complex fistula the way it started makes me think it was trauma related but my immune system is having a tough time healing it

what was your experience of Mayo? i was thinking of getting a second opinion there

The GI I met with at the Rochester MN Mayo was Dr. Papadakis. I went there for a second opinion. He did listen well and seemed very thorough. We didn't delve too much into LDN. He did say there aren't many clinical studies out there on it's efficacy and usage in Crohn's. He has prescribed it for some of his patients before.

I scheduled the appointment for when I was going to be in Rochester for work. I think I scheduled it a month out, they could have gotten me in earlier but I wasn't going to be in town then. I think it is worth it for someone who has a difficult case, is having trouble being diagnosed or is facing a complicated surgery. I don't think they are going to be able to confirm much regarding LDN and fistulas because the data is just not out there to come to any conclusions.
