Hi there,
I recently underwent, yet another, colonoscopy, as I've had stomach issues for many years that the doctors haven't quite been able to figure out. I'm not really sure how this biopsy reads but my GI told me that I do have IBD and she believes it to be crohn's disease. I am going in for a capsule endoscopy tomorrow. I was just wondering if anyone had any insight into the biopsy report. I asked my doctor specifically if I had an IBD or a non-specific inflammatory issue and she said IBD. I've just been put in an IBS bubble for years and/or "we don't know" even after being dx'd with ischemic colitis in the past and most recently being hospitalized with severe colitis. Thank you much.
Biopsy report reads:
Terminal ileum:
A. Small intestinal mucosa with lympohoid aggregates, active lieitis not identified.
B. Colon, right: (left colon is the same)
Colonic mucosa with lamina propria edema, focal crypt distortion and areas of active inflammation.
Special stains fail to demonstrate acid fast bacilli or fungal organisms. No viral inclusions or parasitic organisms identified.
Forgt to mention that she is starting me on humira...i have had blood tests, waiting to have TB test as i have to go to a specific hospital since we live in a small town and not all labs do it here.
