I had my ileocaecal resection 5 days ago and still have not had a BM, everything I read says I should be going more often, has anyone else had this?

It takes awhile for your bowels to wake up. Did you go at all in the hospital? You can call and check with your surgeon tomorrow if you are home and haven't gone. I think it took me 4-5 days if I remember correctly. How are you feeling otherwise?

I didn't go in the hospital no, I haven't went at all and was beginning to panic a bit, they let me home yesterday for the weekend but have to back and see the surgeon tomorrow morning.
I'm still a bit sore but not too bad other wise. Thank you for the reply, I just couldn't find anyone else saying they did not go straight away.

If you are on pain meds, especially opioids, that can slow things down a lot. I'd call the surgeon tomorrow just to touch base about it, but one time I was in the hospital on IV pain meds for a few weeks, and I didn't have a BM for two weeks in spite of having c. diff.!

8 days. I was in the hospital after my resection for 8 days before I had a bowel movement. 8 long days.

8 days!!!!! Wow I'm all good now haha I was panicking a wee bit too early, I thought I was bad at 6 days!
