I am horrible at remembering if I took my pills or not, and daily pill boxes only work for me for about a week or two (I start putting off refilling them and end up where I started). I got a a monthly planner that I keep by my pills, and I write down the dose I took and the exact time I took them. It's also helpful to take with me to my appointments because I can write down symptoms and doctors can see what I'm taking and when. I don't know why that works for me and pill boxes don't, but it has been super helpful! I don't have any advice about what to do to figure out if you missed one other than maybe count them if you know how long you have been on that pill bottle, but that's usually easier said than done, because figuring out when you started on the pills is impossible at least for me without my planner.
