In pain - please help

I am unsure of what I can use for pain relief that will not affect GI system?

Background:
I have a horseshoe fistula. The left side where there is opening is doing ok, but there is a short tract on the right side (no external opening) that periodically causes me alot of pain. It seems to start having pain coinciding with when I have gone for a long walk, or sat for a longer period of time without a cushion, so I guess I will need to limit those things.

I am unsure of what I can use for pain relief that will not affect GI system?

I have been using tylenol with limited help. My wound care nurse suggested advil but I am reluctant due to potential GI effect.

I took curcumin and boswelia last night and this morning but not noticing benefit yet.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!!

My CRS said ok to alternate with tylenol/ibuprofen intermittently.

Las time this resolved it within 2-3 days, hope it works this time. I called GI but no advice was provided, he said we could talk in my appt next week

The only thing they want me to have is Tylenol. It's frustrating, sometimes it's like taking nothing at all. I admit that I sometimes take ibuprofen when I can't stand the pain. I try not to do it often though, as I have had really bad bleeding from them in the past. I also have a few NORCO's that I hang on to for dear life if I absolutely need them. That's sad isn't it? They just don't seem to want to control our pain.

Any concerns with using it just for short intervals?

I don't have a diagnosis of crohns (GI workup is negative), but had this bad fistula form about 1 yr back.

I am hoping to use some natural remedies to get me back into a better place, and heal.

I have been doing hyperbaric treatments, and am seeing improvement.

My friend uses canabis oil for her migraines and it works very well. She also can't take most otc pain drugs because they upset her stomach. You can specify the relaxing one or the stimulating one. She gets the one that relaxes. It has a carrier oil in it and she is currently looking for the pure oil. Taste nasty, but you can put it in juice and gulp it down. It is very anti inflammatory and great for pain. Google canabis oil and you will see people are having success with it for a variety of things. If you don't want to take the canabis oil with the active ingredient thc you can also get hemp seed oil at any health food store. It is good for inflammation but not as much for pain although it helps some. It has no thc and won't even affect a drug test. Hope this helps and you find some relief. Dr's just don't guide their patients this way, they always go for the drugs. I'm not in the younger generation category so it took me a while to accept the medical benefits and not just think of it as something people take to get get high. But I'm converting over to this way of thinking because I've seen the results.
