Mild Crohn's, flare up, and pregnancy

First off, congrats on your pregnancy!
Second, get to a GI asap so you can discuss a real treatment plan. Vitamins aren't going to cut it!
When was the last time you had a colonoscopy?
The thing about Crohns is, you might feel ok and think your disease is mild, but there could be a storm brewing in your insides due to hidden inflammation. I did 10 years of thinking I was fine, but it all came back with abscesses and fistulas. Let's hope the same thing doesn't happen to you.
Unfortunately, being pregnant, your GI won't be interested in giving you a scope, and I'm unsure if there are other scans that he'll do.
It's too bad you weren't on meds before you became pregnant. Statistically, 1/3 of pregnant women with crohns get better, 1/3 get worse, and a 1/3 stay the same. From what I've read, the women who have the most difficulties are the ones who were undiagnosed/med free before pregnancy. They then had to do the double whammy of trying to manage both pregnancy symptoms and crohns problems.
I was the opposite. I was on remicade and 6mp when I found out I was pregnant. My Crohns symptoms were mild at the time, but I wasn't in remission because of the fistula. I had a csection in November 2014. I received remicade the entire pregnancy and post partum. I did not flare at all during the postpartum period. In fact, a scope last year showed no sign of active disease. I'm in the best shape of my life and it's all because of an unplanned pregnancy! We actually like to joke that I should just stay pregnant to keep the crohns at bay. I hope you're one of the lucky ones too!

Thanks for your responses ladies. I should mention though that I am currently on meds. Before I found out I was pregnant, I started a small flare so immediately, I went back on the salofalk suppositories (Ive never been on any other meds as my flares have always been mild and salofalk has always worked well for me), but a couple of weeks later, I got a positive pregnancy test, so now I'm struggling to fight those cravings (of course I have to crave for all the foods I know my intestines cannot handle). I'm still on the salofalk trying to get myself out of this flare asap, but Ive been afraid to continue any of the supplements I usually take when not pregnant. I know I can read up on these supplements and their safety during pregnancy, but I was hoping for some quick answers here and their safety during pregnancy.

I logged on here to find the exact same information. I am 8 weeks pregnant and am having a mild (hopefully) crohn's flare for the first time after a bowel resection 4 years ago. I currently have an inflamed skin condition called erythema nodosum. it is hideous. I also live overseas in a developing country ( I can find decent medical care but it adds to the stress) This is where my partner is from and our life is here. And it is awesome. I will go home to have my baby, now probaly earlier which will be a finanial disaster). Crohn's has killed all enjoyment of being pregnant. I went from super excited to feeling sorry for my self and having no idea what to do. I am on pred and going to taper off it quickly. I have a massive supply of salofalk and I will find out tomorrow if I can take it. I don't think it does much for me anyway, so probably not worth the risk. Anyway not much encouragement but just wanted to say congratulations and I can commiserate. I am also a teacher and get no down time- althoguh I am off this week which is a relief. It is draining thinking about this. It will all work out in the end x
