Remicade now Humira

Hello,

My doctor has recently advised me that I have developed antibodies to Remicade which I have been taking since 2012. He is now switching me to Humira. I have read some horrific stories regarding side effects from Humira including drug induced Lupus and other serious infections caused by it. Has anyone had any negative experiences (or positive) from switching to Humira after taking Remicade?

Positive ... Infliximab/remicade didn't work for me but Humira has had a better result. No worrying side effects. Took a while to feel the benefit but got there. Small issue with repeated chicken pox which I no longer seem to have immunity to... Just need to be aware of whom I'm in contact with.

Risks of side effects with Humira are pretty similar to the risks with Remicade.

Are you taking an immunosuppressant along with the anti-TNF? In other words, are you taking imuran, 6mp or methotrexate along with the Remicade/Humira? That will help reduce your odds of developing antibodies to the anti-TNF med, so if you're not taking imuran/6mp/methotrexate, you should talk to your doctor about adding one of them.

I loves humira. I was in remission for 6 years with no side effects. It was great until it quit working. Good luck. I hope you have a long remission
