Cipro and Flagyl

Why is it that i feel better on Cipro and Flagly? What does this do different then Remicade, Humira, Entyvio, and Cimzia? I searched and alot of people feel better taking this combo. Is this a long term solution or just to get over a hump.

I'm on and off this constantly. It helps me too, for only for a short course. No biological help me and I have tried them all , even entyvio that mayo clinic told me to try, did nothing.
I have perianal fistualizi g Crohn's and I'm costantlu having a fissure reopen in my butt :( this disease you manage, I have never been in remission in 11 years!! I bleed every single day!!!!!!

Besides the the first few months of remicade, and loading dose of Humira and Entyvio I haven't felt this good in a while. Strange on what helps me with these two. What's doing it? Of course I'm almost done with the prescriptions and I'll be ready for my Cimzia shots but boy I even went out with the family. Has been a long time. After Cimzia, we are looking at stellera. Crossing fingers that Cimzia works but not really optimistic about it now. Just weird that cipro and flag made me feel better and stop the blood.

fig - I can't take flagyl due to neurological effects, but when I took it for a short time for a fistula, I too felt great. They moved to cipro after that and again I felt great. Docs thought it was just because the junk from the fistula made me feel lousy...but every time I am on any antibiotic, I feel better.
I want to go on Xifaxin.....see how that makes me feel before I try a biologic. Docs are just so antibiotic right now that they won't offer them...almost a scarce as getting a script for prednisone now.
Considering probiotics and yogurt have the opposite effect on me that most people get, I suspect there is a bunch of us that need the gut killed off more than we need it built up.

I've had to take those antibiotics multiple times over the years, and the reason they work is that there's infection in those diseased areas that it's getting under control.

Well spoke to my GI today and he suggested to go back on Cipro and Flagyl and see how I feel. Starting to feel the same way that put me in the hospital......

I always had great results when on these two together as well. Never really flagyl by itself. I would suspect cipro can't be used long term especially with the new warnings out about that class of drug.

I do known that flagyl and cipro work on different types of bacteria but not sure what that means as far as Crohns.
