Sorry to hear about the abscess! That will always add a layer of stress, but I'm glad it's healing well.
With my first, I went into the pregnancy pretty sick from Crohn's, c. diff., and pancreatitis (it was a surprise pregnancy). I had actually just gotten off a feeding tube a couple of months before. I was really sick the whole pregnancy with horrendous morning sickness. My Crohn's actually went into remission once we could keep me hydrated with IV fluids every day. I was okay for a couple of months after my daughter was born, but then I got super sick and was hospitalized 10 times from when she was 3-8 months old. Most of that, though, was c. diff. and pancreatitis, which would make my Crohn's flare. Once I got a fecal matter transplant and we upped my Remicade dose, I was able to get healthy again.
With my second, who is only 3 months old now, I went into the pregnancy in remission. I stayed in remission until the end when I had a very mild flare (about 6 bms per day, but mostly somewhat formed and very little real D). I have been doing great so far.
I tried to work during the first pregnancy, but I had to stop because of the daily IV fluids. My second I was a SAHM, so it was like working 24/7!! :)
Everyone is just different. Honestly, a lot of it seems just a matter of chance as to whether or not you'll flare during or after pregnancy.
