rectum and back pain. Entocort??

Most of my symptoms with crohns have been bloody mucous. I got Salmonella at the end of May. Of course it threw me into a flare. Cipro induced I am sure. Anyways. I started along with the violent runs, blood. Diarrhea resolved. Now I have just bloody mucous. Last few days back pain. It wakes me up at night. I started Entocort for the first time. On it about one week. Anyone ever had this back pain with this. Esp. at night? I suppose I will go to the doctor. Or call tomorrow. Wondering if I need straight up Prednisone. I've never taken Entocort. I was hoping it would resolve. btw. I will never eat at a Chinese buffet again!!

I was negative for cdiff when they tested me for Salmonella. I don't have diarrhea. Just rectal pain, bloody mucous frequently. Which is my common crohns symptoms. But I have not ever had the back pain. It is worse at night. Can't get to the doctor until the end of the month.

Where is the back pain? Does it seem to be muscle aches, or something else? Is it lower spine or higher up?

I can't think of how Entocort would cause back pain, but you never know.

Where is your Crohn's disease active - the rectal area? If so, Entocort might not help much. It works best in the right side of the colon and in the terminal ileum. There is another formulation of budesonide (the steroid in Entocort), called Uceris, that works more on the entire colon (including the left side and sigmoid and rectum).

Thank you for the information. My pain is actually very low, almost my butt cheeks, on either side of my tailbone. I have been using heat. I was thinking the flare is causing the pain.
My Crohns disease is mostly rectal area. Also the terminal Illeum and other areas not as bad.
