It is still a good site but I feel it's not like it used to be. People don't seem to want to help others like they used to.

Barbz, I agree. Back in the day it was a completely different place -- even for those of us who lurked more than posted. I think any site changes over time but this one board took a completely different turn at one point. I'm just glad all you "oldies" were there when I needed you!!

I found this group about
a year into my diagnosis with a doctor who wouldn't communicate with me, only gave me massive script
s of Asacol and Pentasa! HW and all the regulars at that time got me through. I posted some, lurked some.
I don't stop by that often now. I've been in remission and raising two kids. But every time I see the names of the 'oldies,' it makes me smile. The warmth, the commeraderie, the medical info, the jokes and stories--it saved me. And now I'm flaring again. As I'm already on Remicade and Imuran, not sure what the next step is.
But the forum from that time taught me how not to fear, to take action. It also taught me how important it is to pass along the experiences, the wisdom, the laughter. Thank you.

Hi All! I have not posted recently. I have been here since 2005'. I see many familiar names! I may be posting more. Crohns is unfortunately back with a vengeance! Doctor is trying to talk me into biologics. I am still fighting it! The pricing with all the insurance changes has me weary, and I have not wanted to deal with the side effects! Remicade was the main one back in 2005. I have been on a long term flagyl/cipro stent which is not kicking my issues! Boo-Hiss!! I do work from home now so hiding my issues pretty well!

Longtime lurker here, pre-2003 forum reboot. That was way back before reboots were cool in Hollywood. I'm active here in spurts, but been gone a while. Glad to see so many usernames that I recognize checking in and saying hi!
I was diaganosed in the late 1990's and had the joy of a barium enema, too. That was before I was officially diagnosed, and the doctors were trying to figure anything out. Thankfully, no one suggests that test to me any more.
Back before the heavy hitting drugs, it was basically prednisone, then 6-18 months of remission. I was allergic to sulfa drugs and asacol seemed to only "sort of" help. But yes, I remember when pentasa, imuran/purinenthol, etc were new drugs.
Wishing you all good healthy and happy healing!
