nono Hi everyone, I guess I just came to vent. At this point, having just moved, and simultaneously having my worst flare-up yet, no GI established, or PCP for that matter...I'm feeling overwhelmed, and concerned. I don't know what to expect here and I cannot manage my symptoms no matter how hard I'm trying. So, I keep looking ahard to remission, and hope it comes sooner rather than later. Not the way I wanted this "relocation" to go, anyhow, hope you all have a great day today!

Hi Jerseys Girl, sorry you are having a rough time. What's your history with crohns and meds? What general region have you moved to? I would look for top hospitals in the area and find GIs that are affiliated with them and check the CCFA list of doctors in your area. I usually start with a GI and and ask him/her for a PCP that they work with. You definitely need treatment though and it might be a wise idea to go to the ER idea depending on what your symptoms are since you lack a doctor and would have to wait. Moves are extremely stressful, hang in there!

Florastor is one the best. It is the most effective against c. diff. VSL #3 is a good one, but it has to be refrigerated.

Probiotics help some and hurt some.
If on antibiotics you would want a yeast based like florastor so the antibiotics can't kill it out. May help prevent c diff.

Probiotics alone are not too likely yo get you out of a flare. You need to get recommendations for a pcp and a GI.

I am assuming you are in jersey, depending on where in jersey it might be worth it to make the trek to mt Sinai in NY. IMHO it's one of the best IBD centers in the area.

Thank you both for your responses. I'm from Jersey but live in Georgia now. You're right, I definitely need to find a PCP and GI specialist here, as this is probably the most challenging flare-up I've ever had. I just finished a course of Flagyl, Cipro, and steroids but no relief at all. I feel this CD has advanced in the past couple of years and I know I need to take a more aggressive approach. I just finished my round of flagyl/cipro and increased steroids and see my PCP on Tuesday. I have moved around quite a bit for either my job or my husband's job. I started to be able to telecommute almost a year ago. We are moving again due to my husband's job from the Fort Smith AR to the Tulsa OK area so here I go again. Some PCPs are better than others when you go into a flare. I seem to react to everything RX wise. My PCP is very CD wise so he just shook his head the last time and just said time for a Gastro and you are looking at a biologic whether you want to or not. My CD effects the lower part of my stomach and upper intestines when it gets bad.

I really, really think you should go to an urgent care. They can give you a script for prednisone and some referrals to some doctors, which might get you in more quickly.

Thank you guys for sharing your story with me and for the advice. I've tried to avoid the ER and urgent care but I'm without a choice at this point. The PCP I saw in July took me off the steroids staying they were causing me to become toxic...? I didn't know that was possible. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow. It's just nice to be able to come on here and talk about this. I understand it's difficult for most people to understand what we deal with because we 'appear' to be okay on the outside, trying to explain what's going on on the inside, well it's difficult lol. Glad I found this venue🙂 Take care of yourselves everyone!

This is me also! Just moved a week ago to a different state. I had did some research online and found a GI doctor that I wanted to see in my new state. Then had to bombard my old GI doctor's office to help get me a referral going and all my records sent. Once my GI finally knew about the move he made sure and call the new office and let them know it was urgent that I got seen. So I have my new appointment in a month. Unfortunately not soon enough to get established before my next Remicade infusion. Thankfully I can still go back home and get it one more time.

It is scary in the mean time though. Being far away from established doctors. The stress from everything threw me in a worse flare, and thankfully I had some prednisone left over. I've got myself on 15 mg a day right now and it should last me until I can get seen. Otherwise I'm sure I'd end up in the ER here. Which I'm really trying to avoid!

Thanks DrewPalermo for the tips! The south is nice but may I suggest waiting till it cools down a bit? It's brutal here in the summer lol🙂 I'll give your suggestions a try! Have a great day!
