If it's mild or early Crohn's, you may not be ill or lose any weight because of it. That was the case for me for five years after diagnosis. Then I took a turn for the worse and had fevers, anaemia, extreme fatigue, weight loss, etc. Later on I developed a stricture. Other folks with Crohn's get fistulas. Basically, it's hard to have Crohn's for years and years without some of the consequences of it catching up with you.
But that said, it is possible you could have had mild Crohn's for over 20 years without it getting any worse. Not very likely, but possible. It does absolutely no harm to get it checked out, particularly if your symptoms have got worse recently.
