I'd say take it step by step. See what the colonoscopy results are. Most people are diagnosed with IBD in their teens and 20s. IBD is no fun to deal with but if you get on the right treatment plan early on and are proactive about your health, you stand a good chance to have longer periods of remission and fewer complications. Do you have any other symptoms besides stomach pain? Once you know which type of IBD it is (Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis) and how much inflammation there is, you and your doctor will have a bit of a better idea how to proceed. Hang in there, it is often not easy facing a new diagnosis.
