I am kind of feeling proud of myself today! After a horrendous ER visit last night (where I just spent 4 hours crying in pain and not being given any pain meds at all) and getting less than 6 hours of sleep, I had to take my two kids with me to my 9a GI appointment and then to their 10a ped appointment where my 6mo got 3 shots and my 3yo got one (she got away from me and yanked the needle out of her leg halfway through!). And we did it all without me losing patience! :D

In other news, you know you have an amazing GI doctor when he stops in the middle of the appointment to talk with your 3yo about the princesses she's playing with, points out they're wearing each other's dresses, and then draws a picture of Olaf for her. Then he tells me that he will get me in on Monday to do some scopes on his lunch hour because he's concerned about my symptoms. I am so grateful every single day for the amazing specialists I have here.

Glad you have such a great GI, but I'm sorry to hear you are having a rough time! Let us know when you find out what's going on with you.

That's really awesome! So cute and and really fantastic that he's getting you in so fast. Compassionate good doctors are something to celebrate and rare finds. I got so in awe of these doctors that I go to now when I found them because I had never experienced that type of treatment before, like they were human and actually care about the outcome! I've told a few friends about them but unless you've been really sick most people don't get it. A few months back I stopped at a gas station and apparently my doctor was in the car behind me. While I was pumping gas he came over and had a conversation about how I was doing and about my car. Didn't have to do that but just shows that they actually care about their patients. Good luck with your scope!

I thought I was having a rough time but I see you are struggling again and you have to still sort out the kids.
You have helped me a lot over the past few years and I am extremely grateful, I know you have a strong faith ,as do I but I feel I am being tested and just hope that I pass the test.
As you know I had a fistulotomy last march and I really thought I was doing well which I suppose I am but after all my recent tests my GI is unsure what is causing my recurring pain. He has offered one thought that my procedure was very close to the sciatic nerve and after a holiday two weeks ago which involved a lot of sitting on my butt, I may have put too much pressure on the nerve. He could be right but would that explain the bruised soreness in the rectum. Have you heard of this problem with anyone else.
Do you know how long it will take to fully heal after a fistulotomy, I would have thought six months would be enough but I have read it can take over a year.

Hope you feel better soon, glad you have a good surgeon.

Sorry to hear of your ongoing pain but SOOO glad to hear you have an amazing GI doctor who shows that he cares! My son (20) has had good ones, poor ones and a few outstanding ones. His current GI calls after hours, on weekends and answers every question we come armed with (he is perpetually late so I assume he does this with every patient!). I hope that your scopes turn up some good information so you can proceed with the appropriate treatment! YAY for AMAZING GIs..!

Thanks everyone! :) Scopes in an hour. The worst part of preps is having a RV fistula so if I try to hold it in, it doesn't work. :/

My infertility specialist was this way with my daughter when she was little. He once wrote her a "prescription" for M&Ms and another time made an "elephant balloon" out of a latex glove he blew up, drawing a face on it. We still have those little things after 28 or so years, although that glove has kind of disintegrated! It's nice when someone takes the time with family like that.

So sweet!

Well, scope showed absolutely nothing. Which in some ways is really disappointing, because I'm not sure where to go now. We're going to have me see my OB on Wed, then touch base again after that. There's a chance it's adhesions from my c-sections and/or gallbladder removal.
