I have been cured of CD (or maybe I should say in remission), without any symptoms since 2007 and all I used was the scd diet.
I was diagnosed with cd in 2006 after having two massive rectal fistulas, a lot of D, and white mucus in my bms. GI wanted to put me on humera but , I decided to try the natural route first and agreed only to take pentassa.
I followed the scd diet 100% to the absolute letter without any cheating. In two months, all my mucus and D were gone. By 6 months both my fistulas started to heal up to the point where the ctons had to be removed. By 8 months, both fistulas were gone and all other symptoms were also gone, and have never come back.
I continued to follow the diet 100% for about
another 5 years after which, I slowly started to bring back some non scd foods like potatoes, bread, pizza, etc, but nothing to extreme. Also I was still taking the pentassa 1000mg 3xd.
In 2015, I had a colonoscopy, and the results that came back from biopsies taken in my intestines said that I had "ABSOLUTELY NO" signs or indications of crohns anywhere in my system, NOTHING!!!! GI was amazed and said he never seen anyone go from crohns like I had to having no sign of crohns. He said by all practical purposes I can consider myself cured of CD , and I can stop taking the pentassa, which I did last year.
Diet change to the SCD worked for me , but I committed myself 100% and I think this is the key to it's success.
Does this work for everyone ? , NO, but you have nothing to loose by trying. From my experience and talking to other people who had success with the scd diet, it seems to work best in newly diagnosed people without a lot of prior damage to the gut.
