Congrats on your remission. From what I have read, docs base decisions about whether or not to continue meds in remission based on your disease history, severity and your age. I have been in remission since my re-section surgery in 2014 and I am not taking any Crohn's meds, but i am monitored very closely. My Crohn's was limited to my terminal ileum and a tiny bit of my colon and was thought to have been slow growing. I am also 58 and a non-smoker. They tend not to take younger people off meds because they have to live with the disease for so much longer and don't want to see multiple surgeries and loss of bowel. Going off meds is definitely taking a risk, but so is taking meds when you don't need it. I am getting blood work and fecal calprotectin tests every year and will probably do colonoscopies every other year unless something changes. I do have bad IBS, probably from the surgery itself and losing my ileo-cecal valve, and my multiple bouts with c.diff, but so far, no Crohn's.
