In my region of the US, the flu is at epidemic levels. There have been quite a few deaths. It is reported that many of those deaths from flu are people that were immunized this year.

I got a flu shot at the end of September. December 30 I awoke with a fever of 103 degrees. Had all the symptoms and given my age and other health issues, went to the doctor. I had/have the flu. Today is the first day I am feeling somewhat ok. Fever, finally gone.

I have not had the flu in over 20 years since I began regular yearly flu shots. This time I swear, had I not had a shot, I would be dead. I was that sick, short of breath, lungs full of gunk.....

As you go about life, remember to wash your hands, stay away from those obviously ill, etc., etc

My mum caught the flu on Christmas Day. When she finally got to the doctor's, she was diagnosed with flu. She hadn't got the flu jab and nor had I, even though we're both entitled to free jabs on the NHS. She's a lot better now, although still very lethargic and tired. I'm honestly amazed I never caught it off her, since she was preparing the Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, I sipped from the same glass she drank from, etc.

Glad you're somewhat better now. Think next year I will get the flu jab.

My Daughter just got it. Fortunately, it was the 24 to 48 hour variety. She's an Educational Assistant working at an elementary school so it's inevitable. You wouldn't believe the stories she tells me. Kids throwing up all over the place, and parents just drop them off and run.

Hi Everyone,

I don't have the flu, but do have a bad cold with lots of diarrhea and nausea. The coughing is killing my intestines. When I cough I have wheezing in my chest which is new. I have had this cough since the end of November then came laringitis. Laringitis went away and everything was okay until the day after Christmas.
On early Monday morning I had such diarrhea which emptied me out. From then on I was having 10-15 Diarrhea a day for three days. Along with the diarrhea the nausea stayed still to this day. I eat a little, drink some gatorade and water and still feel lousy. I have crohn's small bowel and am on azathioprine which is working. I see my GI on Tuesday and see what he says. I normally won't call him unless I have a fever or am throwing up. I know this medication can lower my immune system and am hoping this is not happening. I sleep a lot which is good, but can't wait to feel much better. Have crohn's for 53 years with many resections.
