Yeah, definitely discuss this with your doc. It isn't good to start them when you're sick. I believe though it can work both ways with these meds. Some people get sick more frequently while others find either no change or even less frequent colds/sicknesses. You don't think the boils could be related to the crohns? It does cause skin involvement. The flu was what finally did me in right before I was diagnosed years ago, kicked the crohns into full gear. I used to get sick all the time until the crohns happened and that was also one of my reasons for holding off.
That's terrible that the criteria is so strict. with this this disease being so complicated and medications all having their pros and cons they should have more flexibility

Yes Labradorite, I do believe the boils are related. I was diagnosed after a month of taking all different kinds of antibiotics they didn't help clear the boil up and ended up in hospital in a major flare.
But when I mentioned it to my GP she kept telling me it was just a coincidence and nobody else has really given me an answer.

I am going to make sure I write everything down for my upcoming appointment with my specialist. I feel like the doctors think you are fine if you aren't on the toilet all day and still go to work, I guess it is hard for them to understand that sometimes it is everything else going on outside the bowel that causes the most concern.

I am still in the process of denial/grief about it all.
