Biologics List

Hi there,

Turns out my Remicade is no longer working for me even though I have not built up any antibodies to it. Does anyone know what biologic is next when Remicade is no longer affective? I know there is no exact science but what do people here normally move onto when they need to change biologics from Remicade? I am not doing any steroids or assist meds like imuran etc.

I'm in an active flare and thanks to C-diff from antibiotics I took for a sinus/ear infection its worse. Vancomycin is wicked on the body and my Crohn's flare has knocked me out. I just got a yeast infection thanks to this antibiotic so yay. Living on 4 capfuls of miralax and being terrified of my own body thanks to C-diff has been just crushing to my self-esteem. I live with bleach dousing everything and I swear have become OCD from it. God, going through a flare and C-diff has made me look at how fragile our bodies are with Crohn's disease. I know anyone can get C-diff but jeez it just feels like its one illness after another.

Thanks for the quick responses and the drug options. I've been on remicade for 5 years. I've felt worse the last several infusions. I've tried going up doses but nada. I also used imuran to no avail. My gastro will talk to me about all my drug options Thursday. I'm glad Remicade is working for you. How long were you on humira? I'm pretty desperate for new meds that will actually put my Crohn's into remission.

I tried humira, made me sick and then tried entyvio same thing. I'm approved to start Stelara asap. I hope it works for me. Remicade did nothing as well as 6mp. Everyone is different.

I was on Humira for 9 months. During that time it completely healed a fistula i had had for 3 years.
I eventually started having a lot of body aches and leg stiffness that were attributed to the humira and it was stopped, and they went away. Remicade has caused me similar body aches but not as bad as the humira and I've chosen to stay with it and try to manage the side effects since it has done a good job of keeping me in remission this last year. Over all my humira experience was positive.

Sugarmarie, I am going through a Crohn's flare atm. I have severe small bowel wall and mild ascending colon thickening. Due to this getting bowel movements to pass has been exceedingly difficult. I've tried lowering the capfuls to 2 but it's proving to be ineffective. So I'm sitting here waiting until Thursday to find out what my new medicine plan is going to be. I'm not imploding so I get to wait in line for my gastro to figure something out.
