BRIGHT red blood when I poop

I seem to be having issues w/ constipation off and on which involves straining to poop.

Today when I went to poop I thought it was a liquid diarrhea poop and when I looked into the toilet it was just bright red blood.

I'm not experiencing any symptoms. No stomach pain, no fever, good appetite, plenty of energy.

When I searched online, the most likely cause is an anal tear or hemorrhoids.

Anyone care to weigh in? Thanks

I had something similar happen to me a couple years ago. I literally pooped just bright red blood. The cause of mine was fissures (very painful) and hemorrhoids. Hope you can find whats causing your bleeding

I'm getting a colonoscopy in a month. Hopefully they will find whatever is causing it

Bright red blood usually indicates it's coming from close to the anus, ie, the anus or rectum. It could be from fissures or hemorrhoids. Fissures, as Bucko pointed out, can be pretty painful. Hemorrhoids may or may not be painful and/or itchy.

If the bleeding ever gets heavy, let your doctor know sooner rather than later.

If it's a small to moderate amount here and there, it's probably ok to wait until you c-scope to find out the source of it.

Is it itching? If so it's a hemorrhoid, but if there's pain it's most likely an anal fissure (a tear in the anus) these can be very painful. If it's a hemorrhoid though I suggest preparation H, works wonders

I wouldnt worry to much about it if its bright red and you did mention you do strain to go from time to time. I get that myself and somedays its like a crime scene in the bowl. It is a little unsettling at times but my doc's have not seemed overly concerned and say its just a couple small fissures and hemorrhoids. But sometimes for me I get some serious stomach cramps when it happens and almost feel feverish, but thats on a bad day and usually my anemia has kicked in at same time. Hopefully it clears up for you and doc does not find anything of concern when you get your scope done.
