GI is insulting; getting new doctor

Have you guys ever been so insulted by GI doctor?

he is acting as if i am crazy
i have developed joint pain and inflammation in my body. glossitis, etc; this appeared after colonoscopy, which was negative
along with having chronic diarrhea for over 1 year and chronic weight loss despite eating a normal diet plus more
i am under 100 lbs.

he said that all these symptoms are coincidental
that he will order small bowel follow through
but perhaps i need to get some psychiatric medication (excuse me!) and that i should really visit a rheumatologist -- that perhaps it is a joint disease.......
except the majority of pain is in my right abdomen. and i experienced GI symptoms first.
rheumatologist said i have no joint damage. that it is most likely not a joint disease, but GI. however, GI disagrees and came back at me that i need to go to a psychiatrist for medication; that those meds can help the gut.

have you ever experienced anyone like this?
i am sticking with him until i complete the small bowel follow through, which is tomorrow.
then, i do not know what to do. because i am in pain and i do not know what this is.

Time for a new GI. In fact do you have a PCP you trust! maybe they can review and make a recommendation for a new dr. Trust your body. Only you know what you are feeling. After I had my resection surgery, I started feeling bad a the 6week mark. My gi didn't believe me and said I was surgical related. After two weeks of complaints and office visits he agreed to a colonoscopy. well what do you know...... the crowns was back and very active. From that point he always listened to me

I have had my share of a bad gi dr. Ive been having chronic abdominal pain joint pain/inflammation nerve pain/inflammation and major diarrhea for at least 6 months and the dr kept telling me i was in remission. However about a year ago she did prescribe a low dose of cymbalta, which is a med for psychiatric issue, for abdominal nerve pain. It did help for awhile. Hopefully the sbft will give some answers for you. I might request one for myself.

yes i did not know that; that is good to know re the cymbalta.
i hope i get answers from the sbft too. all you can do is ask for one; might be good for clarification. you are the patient. the doctor does not have your symptoms.guide them to get what you need for relief.
does not sound fun, your symptoms, and i know they are not, as i am experiencing them too
does not sound like remission to me; that is extremely irritating
at least i know i am not the only one.

Time to find a new GI doctor.

I made "interview appointments " with my first two only to find out they were not for me...Lol.... So much for that process. Lucked into the third GI who got me into a specialist. .. Thank goodness for the last two.

I hope you find a keeper.

He sounds like a PCP I had once who insisted my Crohn's (that I had been diagnosed with three years before) was really just postpartum depression (even though my oldest was only two months old). I took the antidepressant he gave me because he was so insistent (and some depression meds help do help diarrhea). But since I didn't need them, I had a bad reaction and had hallucinations.
