diagnosis of the chron's disease

Hi friends I am new here I have been suffering from all the symptoms of chron's disease for 2 or 3 months so finally I decided to see a doctor ie Gl he prescribed a colonoscopy during colonoscopy he take biopsy and Result shows Acute inflammation so doctor put me on rcifax 550 so please any one can help me to find out what is happening with me

We can't really help you, as we don't know what the diagnosis is apart from acute colitis. That could be Crohn's, UC, bacterial infection, etc. The medication you've been prescribed is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections.

All I can suggest is you go back to your doctor and ask what the actual diagnosis is (inflammation isn't a diagnosis). If it's an infection, the antibiotics will probably clear it up for good. If it's Crohn's or UC, it's basically chronic and they won't.

Hi abhiniri, call your drs office & let them know what is going on. Also, ask for a copy of your biopsy results & come back here & post the results. The members here may be able to give you a lot of suggestions when they read the report.

I happened to see your post, you can type in the final results of the biopsy, they summarize what they found usually. Have you been back to the dr to discuss the biopsy yet & did he say you have crohns or an infection? I ask about the infection because he rx'd an antibiotic to you. Depending on what the dr says showed on your biopsy determines your treatment.

In another post you mentioned being alone & worried about the cost of medications. I know you are live in India & I have no idea what the medical system is like there. Can you qualify for any type of medical assistance? How old are you if you don't mind me asking.

I know this can be overwhelming but just try to take things a day at a time.

Have you been back to the dr to discuss your biopsy & did the dr say you have crohns disease? I know there is inflammation but that is not saying it is crohns disease. How did you get your colonoscopy done & who paid for it?

My stool is coming normal now without blood or mucus but abdominal pain starts I am really afraid of this

I'm happy to have found this forum. To be able to communicate with others who have similar experiences helps a lot.

Before a colonoscopy/endoscopy a few months ago, I was in the midst of the worst flare of my life. I had never been previously diagnosed with Chron's and my previous gastro only said IBS and diverticulosis. But the new gastro doubled my Lialda and prescribed Uceris. There was modest improvement which means instead of running to the toilet a dozen times starting at 4:30 am, I was only going 4-5 times. Started Entyvio and had my second infusion on Tuesday. Yesterday, I was pretty much free of any symptoms, but today was two steps back. I don't understand how yesterday could have gone so well, almost as if I was in remission. Anyway, I'm hoping that was a sign the meds are working.

The GI problems began probably 8 years ago and even after surgery for an anal fistula, no one ever mentioned Chron's until my new gastro three months ago. That's crazy.

Can it possible that biopsy results shows negative but still you have chron's disease

Well, I'm not a pathologist who analyses biopsies for a living, but my understanding is that you need a positive biopsy for a Crohn's diagnosis.

I couldn't swear blind you didn't/don't have Crohn's, but all the omens seem to be pointing that way. Crohn's is a rather rare disease (particularly in Asian countries like India), so the chances are pretty high that you really don't have it.

Well if you're still having symptoms then I can understand why you're worried. Have you finished the rifixamin or whatever antibiotic you were prescribed? If so, you need to go back to your doctor as soon as you can and tell him the antibiotic didn't work. But that said, it's fairly common for antibiotics to throw the digestive system out of balance: they're very powerful drugs which kill off most of the beneficial gut bacterial as well as the pathogenic ones.

So yeah, try not to panic. Hopefully your digestive system will settle down and get back to normal in a few weeks/months.

agreed with @NiceCupofTea, you need to go back to your doctor. They are the only ones who are going to be able to figure out what is wrong
