Anyone been diagnosed with Leukemia from Crohns medications??

I don't get it. Are you saying you have leukaemia? Or are you worried about it as a possible side-effect? If the latter, don't be, it's incredibly rare.

And I don't think there is any one on the Crohn's board with leukaemia or any other type of blood disease.

I was just diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukemia. I had Chemo and now I am in remission. I was taking Humira injections, Imuran, Pentasa and Prednisone for the past 8 years. These medicene's can destroy your white blood cells and thats how they found out about my Leukemia. I was in the hospital for blood clots in my lungs and during my hospital stay severel blood tests were performed and thats where they noticed the extremly low blood count. A bone marrow biopsy was done and it was confirmed in the marrow.

i am 28 yrs old was diagnosed with crohn's disease at 18 yrs old last week i went to the hospital for sever migrain that wouldnt go away, shortness of breath, dizziness, severe nose bleeds, stomach pain on the left side of abdomin and extreme fatigue and weakness.... well long story short i was diganosed through 2 seperate bloodtest with leukemia... i followed up with my dr about 2 days later and she ran blood test also the were pos. for leukemia... i am now awaiting a bone marrow biopsy on the the 4th for further info on my condition.... leukemia does not run in my family... but from the research i have done in the last couple of days and from what my dr tells me is that people with an autoimmune disease such as CD is at a high risk of developing leukemia or another form of cancer... and btw leukemia is a cancer... its cancer of the blood and bones!!! FYI not saying that everyone with CD gets a form of cancer one way or another just saying youre at a greater risk.... idk if its the meds or the auoimmune disease itself ... i am still doing research myself... just ask abunch of questions and always watch out for your best interests... i didnt take crohns disease as a big deal and didnt take my meds or follow the diet and now its too late!!! do research, ask a medical professional questions you have, get 2nd or maybe even 3rd opinions...

Not just leukemia but all types of cancer I guess because they both are an autoimmune disease ...idk.... And there are several different studies that have been done! I have info from my Dr on it and I also googled "is it possible to have crohns and leukemia at the same time" and found a lot of research done on it!!!!

My 16 year old son died two years ago from Acute Myeloid Leukemia caused from taking 6MP for his Crohn's Disease. He was only on 6MP for 15 months and was being transitioned over to Remicade. His blood work taken prior to his forest Remicade treatment was out of whack in many ways. Blasts showed up in his blood two weeks later. He was diagnosed with therapy related AML (caused by his medication 6MP which I didn't realize was a chemo drug). His cancer was immune to his chemo treatments, bone marrow transplant failed and he passed away 7 months after his diagnosis. I would strongly caution anyone with a teenage boy to avoid the immunomodulators at all costs. Doctors tell you the benefits outweigh the risks and getting cancer is rare. It's not rare when it happens to your child. My worst nightmare came true.

I'm so sorry your son passed away. My sister in law passed form AML last summer. I know it's not nearly the same but I just wanted to say my heart goes out to you.
