I wanted to create a thread about food sensitivities.
What makes your crohns disease worse or flare?
Please list foods that make your crohns worst, that are not on the list.
Maybe there are foods that can help if we eliminate them...

I am sensitive to lactose and high fat foods. Raw veggies also bug me sometimes. Gluten and wheat don't bother me at all

Well... I have been battling food for a long time now.... tried the SCD diet for two and half years but the high fiber killed me. I was taking just the imuran at the time. I finally went on Remicade after the doctor repeatedly recommended it. and it was great. I broke all diets and was happy for a bit. I had thought maybe Remicade was the answer. I have been on it now for almost three years.
I have learnt recently how much wheat makes me cramp and fart. (my wife thinks im disgusting but she loves my and well, she stuck with me lol - two kids 5, 6.
Also caffeine and or the lactose from the cream. So i no longer drink coffee but plenty of tea with milk is still fine.
Refined sugar.... had some 55% and even 75% dark chocolate.... makes me nausea in the morning if I eat it late
I still work 40 hours a week, im pretty regular - once a day.
I say about once a month I get some obstruction pain that doesn't end in vomiting like before Remicade. I have two fistula - small to bladder, small to large bowel
What I am trying to accomplish by this thread is maybe just the obvious foods to avoid. maybe one that I havent thought of
Thanks for listening... I go for a MRI soon, for being on Rem for 3 years.... hopefully things are looking better!

Good luck with the MRI. I get so frustrated with trying to figure out the food and diet stuff. Some days I can eat the identical food and it will either bother me or not.....it does get exasperating! You might want to consider trying the FODMAP elimination diet. It is a process to follow to help you see what you are sensitive to and then you can add back the foods that don't bother you. It is not a diet that is meant for you to remain on forever. But really, if the disease is in remission, you should be able to eat most foods. I think my lactose intolerance has more to do with aging than Crohn's disease itself.

My #1 is lactose ever since my first major flare and subsequent surgery in 1982. I've figured out over the years that artificial sweeteners also cause issues. Other than that it's literally a crap shoot every day as to what my body will process and what will cause me issues. Sadly processed foods almost always go ok.

Peanut butter is the worst followed by spare ribs. I can eat Reese's peanut butter cups though. No food allergies.
