@newmommy - On the whole I wouldn't disagree but you forgot a couple of things. Firstly that the NHS is being deliberately run down by the Tories and has been for years. The right wing Brexit fanatics are ideologically opposed to a national health service and many of them are in cahoots with US healthcare companies. The Tories also want trade talks with the US to be secret as they did with the EU negotiations (but the EU wasn't having any of it fortunately, so we've been able to witness the mess the Tories have made every step of the way).
You also forgot that the NHS delivers a far more efficient service for far less money than America. Yes, the mental health side of things is bad and that's unfortunate. The UK is a country with high rates of mental illness and there has never really been enough resources to deal with the mentally ill.
Anyway the whole subject thoroughly depresses me, as unless we get the Tories out of power it is quite possible there won't be an NHS as we know it in a few years time. They have less global reach than Trump but are no less destructive than him.
On a brighter note things are beginning to look up a bit, folks! I saw the psychiatrist yesterday. We are making progress towards a treatment plan. She lifted my section so I can go on leave again. I asked about
meds but she wants to give it more time. I also met my new care coordinator. She seemed nice and was easy to talk to but apart from that I'm reserving judgement until I've seen her a few more times. But the last cc I had, which was a few years ago, was utterly useless.
PS: I spend about
20 minutes with my consultant and my GP. Never felt rushed by either of them. Most conscientious docs will spend as long as they need, within reason. And if you feel like like you need extra time with the GP you can book a double appointment.
PPS: Poppie, sorry I got a bit carried away on my soapbox >_<. No I haven't heard from my parents nor do they know I'm in here. To be honest I'm not sorry to miss the family Christmas; if anything I'm a bit relieved. I'm quite happy to spend Christmas in here now, especially as I have made up with the folks who got caught up in my massive meltdown. Like you said a week ago, but which I didn't quite believe, it takes a while to get to know people.
