Chest Pain?

Have any of you with Crohn's or Colitis experience sharp like chest pains? It doesn't feel like acid, and it doesnt feel like a heart attack! (i mean i have had this on and off for a few weeks now) It feels much more muscular if that makes sense. Sometimes my upper back aches as well. If I am sitting in a position for too ling it seems to trigger it or laying down or if I get up suddenly....happens more often in the evenings after work. Some days I won't experience this at all and some days it is quite painful and constant. I will get up and it will be lik a stabbing sharp pain across my upper chest. Waiting to get in to see a Dr, but I am wondering if anyone else has felt this? I'm not on any meds, have not been for years. Have occaisonal fare ups but have been realtively good. I seem to have more arthtic like aches depending on weather and will have a senstive stomach, but that has been it mostly...although most of us get used to living with all sorts of aches and pains who nknows whats normal anymore......Thank you for any replies.

Yes, I did try and call for an appointment...I do not have a family Dr, as I haven't really had any new or unbearable symptoms in the last 2 years - and I am in a new city/province. Also this province has the worse health care going it seems. I called to book an appointment with a GI and I got a date, but in April of next year!

I could go to the emerg and wait for hours and hope my symptoms do not go away so I can at least have them there (they come and go) or try and go to a clinic and get a referal....somewhere. I guess I amsomewhat discouraged I went through so many test/Dr's/hospital visits etc. before they even figured out I had Crohn's.......I am guessing the fact that my appendix was destroyed and about to rupture that I got in and had surgery. But alas I moved and I am stuck with subpar health care.

I guess I am just frustrated with the back and forth I know is about to come and just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced something similar.........Thank you for your reply !

MissiBee, I to have had chest pains like you have described. I have been suffering from them since I was nine. I had many doctors speculate what they were from, but never a definite answer. They gave me a chest x-ray, ECG, and the breath test where they test how much air you can blow. Nothing showed up so my doctor just prescribed a broncho-diolater. Haven't used it in over a year. I have never found out what has caused them, but January of this year while I was7 months pregnant had blood clots in my lungs. I'm not sure if they are connected or not.

You commented that you just moved to a new province. I live in BC.  We have an ok so so health care system here. Although I hate doctors in general. They just want to fill me up with pills and get me out of their office as fast as they can. I'm still in the process of finding a new and better G.I.

I have been diagnosed with Crohns for less than a year now and I don't really know to expect. I have had two surguries, including a illiostomy between the two surguries. Recently, I noticed that I have been having chest pains on my left side and I've heard a lot about it but I don't really know what to do. I don't know if I should assume that it is costochondritis since I have only experienced this pain acouple of times and the other times it's been pretty speed out. I also don't know if I should be concerned if my scars from the surgeries are hurting or if thats normal? Can anyone give me some insight on what they know about the chest pains because it's really confusing me and I don't know what I should do.
