New Crohnie, on Remicade and have a pizza face

Hi there first time here. Recently diagnosed with Crohn’s 12/17. I will be going to my 3rd Remicade infusion ending of April 2018. I am also on iron and prednisone medication. Currently prednisone 10mg every morning. Didn’t have this acne situation until Remicade. All over my forehead cheeks and chin. I feel so much better gut wise I have even gained weight and can eat most foods. But this acne is just aggravating. I started “Differin” about 2 weeks ago, I’m giving that a shot. But idk anyone else with this situation? Should I go see a dermatologist? Thanks for reading turn

Hello Meileen & welcome to the forum. How long have you been on Pred? I would be willing to bet its the Pred causing the acne, this is quite common with people. The acne should go away after you have been off of it awhile. Glad to read Remicade is really helping, many of us use to call it liquid gold because it worked so well, lol. Seeing a dermatologist is strictly up to you.

I’ve been on prednisone since December of 2017. Started with 40mg now down to 10mg a day. Lol “liquid gold” sounds just about right! I hope its just the prednisone just found it odd I didn’t have as much acne as when I started the Remicade. Thank you for the reply! Take care.

It's extremely likely that Prednisone is the cause of your acne. It should disappear over a few weeks once you taper off.
