How long does it take for Crohn's to manifest itself?

I had a few deudenal ulcers about 9 months ago give or take,Ever since then I have felt continuously nauseous/bloated easily.I always relied on shakes to gain weight since I don't have a natural appetite. I realized I get full extremely quick.My main complaint has been the nausea more so than anything else. I have to sleep on my back now and I wake up with "hunger pains" which very closely resemble what I had with ulcers,yet with ulcers I couldn't eat at all so I doubt I have them. I will admit that I suffer from anxiety so that may have something do with it. I am just sick and tired of feeling like my body is working against me. I already had 2 endos and a colonoscopy and they found absolutely nothing in the biopsies. I have also heard horror stories of people getting crohns in their 40s. Am I headed down the Crohns path? Do I already have Crohns? I am tired of feeling sick all the time. I regret that I skipped driving 2 hours for a capsule endoscopy but I feel like the results would have probably came back clear.Ive tried drinking Diatomaceous Earth in case I have parasites,but it's too disgusting and I feel like a nut everytime I do it. Does anyone here have any suggestions?

It depends on the aggressiveness of the Crohn's; some people have a more aggressive case than others. With a really aggressive case, you are probably talking weeks. A mild case may take up to a few years to become apparent.

That said, duodenal ulcers aren't a classic sign of Crohn's. And your endoscopy/colonoscopy was clear. To me, it sounds like you don't have Crohn's. Health problems suck though, so keep on pushing for answers/treatments. I wonder if with your symptoms you have gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying, leading to nausea and loss of appetite).

As for diatomaceous earth, it's pure crankery, so you can stop trying to drink it with a clean conscience.

If your biopsies came back negative, then you don't have Crohn's. There are numerous gastrointestinal disorders that you should be tested for though. Since you had duodenal ulcers previously, there might be some connection there. Perhaps opt for a GI series, along with tests for gluten sensitivity and a full blood screening, particularly looking for H-pylori. Hope you're feeling better soon.

The ulcers were not caused by H-pylori which seems weird to me.I was already depressed but after I was hospitalized I realized how fragile life really is and even when you feel like your life already sucks enough something else gets thrown in there. I alternate between C and mild D on the same day. I am tired of getting cramps after every meal yet I understand that what I have pales in comparison. I don't know what is going on. For a single week I felt completely better and then I am now back to this. If it is not crohns,I do not understand what changed in my system that is making me feel this way.

@nicecupoftea,How would I go about getting diagnosed with gastroparesis? My GI put my on bentyl 9 months back,I don't know if it worked but my GP said "why are you on bentyl?" and took me off.

Note that I'm not claiming you have gastroparesis: it's one possibility that ought to be ruled out, that's all. Your doctor would have to refer you for a stomach emptying scan.

I'd be surprised if you haven't been screened for this already, but coeliac disease could be another possibility.

You mentioned in your first post skipping a capsule endoscopy. That was a bad idea. I get fearing clear tests but it's still better to know than not to know. I would try to arrange another pill cam or, if not that, then a small bowel MRI scan. An endoscopy only goes down as far as the duodenum, which is no distance at all, given how long the small bowel is.

@Nicecupoftea. Not sure what a bottom bowel MRI scan is but I did take the barium test I think that I forgot to mention that. I dont remember if barium is CT or MRI but they found no obstruction. Could it be a bad gallbladder? When I first got hospitalized I got an ultrasound of my gallbladder but they found nothing. I wake up with nausea literally every single day and after every meal I get an urge to go to the bathroom. I have no idea what is going on and it seems the doctors just want to brush me off.

I would ask my PCP for a HIDA Scan of the gallbladder. It is a test that shows how your gallbladder is functioning. My upper GI showed no gall stones, however, the HIDA Scan found the problem. You do not have to see a gi to get the scan done.

Does it seem like I could have a gallbladder problem? I woke up today absolutely nauseas.I always get a strong relief from the nausea once I go to the bathroom. Problem is I have been constipated lately so first I have to go eat something to stimulate my bowels(have no idea why this works but after drinking/eating within 5 minutes I can go to the bathroom again without constipation). I don't understand why this is happening and have no idea how I have been through so many test and they all don't show anything. I also find it weird that the ulcer episode was around the same time as I got tested for a bad galbladder. A bad GB doesnt cause ulcers does it?

No, the gallbladder will not cause the ulcers. The ulcers can & do appear out of no where unfortunately.

I also wanted to add that I have already been tested for Celiac Disease and it came back negative. I find it hard to accept it could be my gallbladder since when I got sick almost a year ago,it seemed that my issue was what caused the ulcer. It seems unlikely my gallbladder and stomach crapped out at the same time(at least to me,I am no doctor). My GP encouraged me not to get the pill cam since he said I would only be wasting my money.

I can't remember off the top of my head how many gi's you have seen. Regardless, you still have the option of seeking another opinion. You can obtain copies of your testing for another dr to review.

Small bowel MRI scan. It looks at the entire small bowel.

It seems like for all your anxiety you don't actually know anything about the tests you're taking or, worse, not even going to them. We cannot diagnose ANY one over the internet. We're not doctors, we don't have access to your medical records or your test results. I gave one or two suggestions which you're welcome to follow up on if you want, but I am not willing to go on keeping on trying to guess what you have.

Nicecupoftea,Maybe English is not your first language.I already stated that the doctors think that I am okay yet I feel sick.You don't have to answer if you don't want to,there is zero need to be rude. Doctor's don't know what is wrong with me is the bottom line. Did you not read where my GP recommended not to waste my time or money on the pill endoscopy?General consensus seems to be that it is best to wait until symptoms worsen enough to where doctors can do something. Again,no one obligates you to post on every thread you see so I am not sure where the attitude is coming from.

You had a capsule endoscopy booked; you decided you didn't want to drive two hours to go to it. I suggested another capsule endoscopy or small bowel MRI scan - you showed no interest in either.

I'm sorry, but you're not serious about getting a diagnosis with an attitude like that. You want to complain but you don't want to do the long and boring work of working towards a diagnosis and ruling stuff out. Nobody enjoys invasive tests, long waiting times for appointments, etc. etc. but it's all part and parcel of having a long-term chronic disease.

Clearly you did not read the thread. My primary healthcare doctor told me not to go. The pill endoscopy was my idea to begin with. Doctor and GI doctor feel like I do not have Crohn's,again nothing I said to you warranted your rudeness and no one obligates you to respond to threads you don't like. You use this forum as a personal blog so I guess you felt the need to post on here saying you refuse to answer anymore of my questions like you are this sort of authority on the issue at large. I understand from reading your post why you are so bitter about life,but I didn't do any of this to you so I don't understand why you are taking it out on me. If I gave you Crohn's I would 100% understand the motive behind your passive aggressiveness/hostility.

There isn't anything in that sentence which indicates that your GP told you not to go. I assumed you had already booked the test, because you can't skip driving to an appointment that doesn't exist. Do make up your mind as to what really happened, there's a good fellow.
