Your best bet would be to piggyback on your husband's private health insurance plan, because it would be a small increase of his existing insurance premium. I presume your husband is covered under a private health insurance plan, as he needs it for his own sake.
For example, at the place where I work, you would only have to pay $345 a month more to change from individual coverage to family coverage. That's before taxes. After all taxes are accounted for, you may only lose a couple of hundred dollars per month in take-home pay. The small sacrifice in your living expenses ($200/month) would dramatically improve your healthcare outlook over the long term. You may want your husband to talk to his Human Resource manager to sign you up for insurance.
