Hi there,
Two weeks ago I had laser surgery for my anal fistula and I just wanted to hear some other post-op experiences that other people have (if any).
In my case the within the first few days there was a lot of drainage and the wound was quite large, this worried me because I didn’t expect to see a large wound there, I could also feel the fistula tract itself and could feel that the whole area was swollen, again this worried me because I was under the impression that I wouldn't be able to feel anything down there but have since been advised that the tract is closed and not removed via surgery. Thankfully those issues have subsided to the point where the wound has decreased by about 50% and the drainage is minimal. Also I can feel that the wound is starting to scab. I’m hoping this is all a sign of healing and successfully surgery? I guess that if I ever feel that the tract is bigger again or swollen then it has failed?
One thing i was recommended was hypercal, I was instructed to put 5 drops into a small bowl of water and pat this over the puns and let it air dry. I think this has really helped speed up the wound recovery.
Thanks all and heal well.
