Had a GI dr visit today

Today i had an appt to see my gi dr. I felt as if the dr was finally listening to me. Back in june when i was seen in the er i was told that my bloodwork was normal. However the dr told me today that it wasnt totally normal. My potassium was 2.2. I should have had iv potassium while in the er. Normal is 3.5 and up. And iron was 9.4 and should be 12 or above. She rechecked my bloodwork today and checked kidney function since right kidney is tender and painful. Also she ordered a cdiff test since my stools are now watery and bloody and more frequent. I cant take oral flagyl (get a rash) so i might be admitted for iv flagyl. If i take vancomicin i have to take liquid(which is NASTY). So lets just hope the cdiff is negative. Especially since my daughter is going to be induced tomorrow. I cant wait til she has her baby boy, Lucas

If you are positive for c. diff I suggest that you give in and take the oral Vancomycin. It is dramatically less expensive than the pills, it works better than Flagyl and it will help you avoid an unnecessary hospitalization. I just guzzled it and drank water and then brushed my teeth immediately after. It's not that bad
