MRI Enterography.. Side effects?

I've just had (yesterday) an MRE. I had one a couple of years ago so knew what to expect.

The difference this time - after 24 hours I am still only passing liquid bms, and have awful, sharp pains in my abdomen. I ate last night, and had a small lunch, but the pain is just awful now, I'm almost bent over double.

Is this normal, given I've had oral prep, contrast and buscopan? Was I just lucky last time? I can't find anything online at all!

I've a double up/down scope on Monday, so at least the prep for that won't be as explosive if my gut keeps emptying itself out at this rate..!!

I put in a call to the doctor who ordered the MRI to see what he/she thinks. I wouldn't be concerned about the D but the pain is concerning especially if it's that bad.

You're probably having abdominal cramps (likely your colon) as a reaction to your body trying to get rid of the oral contrast.

I've had about 4 MREs, and they've given me a different solution to drink for practically every one of them. One left me bloated for a day or two. One gave me *massive* D as soon as I got out of the scanner. One didn't give me any issues at all.

So, yeah, I'd say eat light for another day or two and hopefully it goes away on its own soon.

Do you know exactly what type of oral contrast you drank?
