putting me on blood thinners due to the Crohns.

I have both afib and crohn’s. I was on warfin for years then went on eliquis. Unfortunately I had a major gi bleed out and lost 7 pints of blood. I am now not on blood thinners. But I have had a cox maze procedure for afib and the6 did remove the left atrial apendex which is where the pooling of blood usually occurs in the heart. My afib is acting up again but they are continuing t9 hold the blood thinners due t9 the removal of the LAA. Everyone is different so I suggest the GI and the cardiologist speak. Blood thinners are not a bad thing I. That the6 are trying to reduce your risk of a stroke which is far worse than a crohn’s flare. But microscopic bleeding is an issue for crohn’s and the blood thinners make it worse. How is your hemoglobin and hemocrit levels right now? If you go on the blood thinners you need to be monitored an a very regular basis

I'm about
to start Warfarin following a second aortic valve replacement. From all I have spoken too, other patients and doctors, blood thinners shouldn't be to big of an issue with Crohn's. As my GI says, heart first, we'll adapt the rest.
There now is an "antidote" if needed for clotting and I believe you can bridge with heparin for procedures and such.
Good luck!
