HI, I just started Stelara on Wednesday 05-29-19. I was first diagnosed with Chron's back in 2006 and that quack doctor told me it probably wasn't Chron's. So I went off all medication for it. I ended up deathly ill in 2014 with 2 perforations, septic...The pathology reports after 6 surgeries to save my life showed Chron's and the surgeon sent me back to the quack doctor who once again wanted me to start on Remicade this time and still said it most likely wasn't Chron's. I switched doctors and started on Remicade in 2015. After being on Remicade since then, I started having reactions to it, shortness of breath and flushing/sweating. My last Remicade was March of 2019 was on it for 45 minutes and had bad shortness of breath (O2 rate dropped to 80 and had to be on oxygen and bad flushing/sweating)..I asked them to stop it and left and called the doctor (whom is 1.5 hours away). After calling him, I needed to make an appointment to see him which I couldn't get in until July (luckily they had a cancelation and I took it end of April). He switched me to Stelara where I have the first one as an infusion and the rest I can do injections at home. I am wondering how long it takes to start feeling better after the first infusion. I also take Methtxate, Lomotil, Probiotic and other medications for R/A and Chron's too. Can someone please let me know how long it should take to feel better. Thank you By the was, Remicade was wonderful, but with reactions getting worse each time I had the infusions, it was not worth it for me.

It took about
3 months for me to start seeing results. But I had just had ostomy surgery and hadn't been on any meds for 5 months.
I hope you see results soon!

I don't have an answer as to how long it takes to reach the optimum therapeautic level with Stelara, but the reports on Stelara have been really good. It seems to rival Remicade which is saying a lot. I hope it starts working for you soon. Please report back on your progress.

I noticed a change about
a month after my infusion, and then kept improving with each dose. Best of luck, I hope it works for you!

I improved fairly quickly too. Sounds like a very serious reaction to Remi. Unsure of your gender but beware of yeast infections caused by Stelara!
Best wishes

I had my loading dose of Stelara on 7/11/19 my crohns symptoms have continued to get worse. My Gi is sending me to another GI i really think he is not sure what to do for me at this point. I can barley tolerate water at this point,

I’m sorry and I really hope things get better, I’m not sure if he will say give it more time or not, but I was told my other option was Xeljanz. You just never know with this.

Sounds like my story except instead of doing surgery they put me on cipro and then sent me home 5 days later from the hospital. Lucky I didn't die as my perforation was probably much worse than yours. A 9 inch span yellow crap was pumping into my system for 5 days.
