Anyone ever have trouble finding a ride home from a colonoscopy? Going for one in several weeks and most of my friends/family/coworkers either don’t live nearby or can’t get a day off. Anyone have any tips?

Uber or Lyft! Just notify your provider ahead of time and make sure it is ok

Thanks pmedic! Paperwork said absolutely no (highlighted and in bold) to this but will have to ask if they will make exception.

Currently in the process of bribing everyone I know even vaguely on social media by making it sound like it’s a contest to win

If they won't allow cab/Uber etc., maybe they would allow a Medical Cab company. Being in a teaching hospital town, we have a bunch of medi-cab companies so I don't know about your area. I remember going through this after I moved to a town by myself....I was lucky my parents could drive out back then and I was only going every 3 years.

Have a conversation with your GP if the GI team won't help with options...

I know this is a pain to have someone accompany you for colonoscopy procedure.

about 20 years ago, I was single living with a bunch of roommates in a 3-story house. So I talked one of my roommates into going with me for colonoscopy. He did not have a driver's license, so both of us took the subway to the hospital. When we arrived, the nurse was OK, and then we came back together after the procedure.

Fast forward to last year of 2018. My Primary Care Doctor insisted that I need another colonoscopy after so many years. But my wife is super busy with her job. So I scheduled a holiday for the colonoscopy when the hospital was still open. On the morning on our way to the hospital, my wife drove through a set of red light, which you know what happened to me. During the 2-hour procedure, my wife was enjoying a novel on her phone with free wifi provided by the hospital.

After the colonoscopy, I told my wife that I let me drive 3-5 minutes to a nearby restaurant because it was lunch hour. She said OK. I was extremely careful with my short drive not to run over even a squirrel. After the 1-2 hour lunch with heavy coffee, I told her I was ready to take the hour-long drive home and I did it. I am not saying anyone should try to repeat what I did, because this can get you killed. I am saying I am a super driver and maybe just lucky on that day.

Where are you? I have had this issue also, if you are anywhere near southern Ontario (sorry can't make it to Labrador smile I would be willing to help. Where I am they will not allow you to take Uber or Lyft or any form of public transportation. I know many people who have an issue with this you are not alone.
