Been approved for Stelara at long last

Finally. It took forever. Credit to my IBD nurse for not giving up, since she was the one who had to do all the legwork for it - paperwork, etc. I even have had to have a balloon dilation done (which unfortunately made no difference). At any rate I get my first dose on the 15th July. Entyvio doesn't seem to be doing anything anymore, so I hope Stelara helps.

Oh yeah, I also had cataract surgery last week on my right eye. Went well, vision vastly improved - left eye to follow in a few weeks' time. I didn't mention it before, because nobody seems remotely interested in my eye stuff, even though it's been giving me hell for 3 years. That said, hopefully once both cataract surgeries are out of the way, it will be a lot better. The uveitis will still be there, but at least steroid eye drops can't cause cataracts a second time.

So happy for you,NCOT! I hope stelara is the answer.

@UB - I'm sorry for not reaching out to you about your fistulas too. I have been reading your threads, but I guess like other people with my eyes, I just didn't really know what to say - I didn't have any suggestions or advice for you. I've had 19 years with IBD and have so far remained fistula-free fortunately. (Slightly surprised by that, as in every other aspect my Crohn's has been severe.) I understand the sadness of a lost life all too well. Although in my case I can't entirely blame the Crohn's - even without it I would have struggled due to my autism (diagnosed 5 years ago) and depression. But the added pain and fatigue certainly hasn't helped!

My eye is healing nicely and the drops seem to be keeping the uveitis at bay. The only downside is the blurriness, making it difficult to read. (Note: I don't mean cloudiness, which is like fog/mist, and which thankfully has completely gone.) I have had it for ages now, so I know it's nothing to do with the op. I suspect it's med-related: the most likely culprit IMO is quetiapine. Or otrivine.

Sometime very soon, I'm gonna try and stop both those meds. The otrivine I take for nightly nasal congestion and have done for a long time. I'm aware of the risks of rebound congestion, but that particular boat sailed about a decade ago I'm afraid. However, whenever I stayed in hospital the congestion disappeared. Never knew why, but then one day it occurred to me: I always slept in a raised bed. Preferred it that way. Looked into buying a wedge pillow; ordered one off Amazon but it never arrived, even after contacting the seller twice, and Amazon refused to publish my 1 star review, much to my chagrin :-(

I lost heart after that and left it for months. But my sleep has become so poor of late, I've become driven to try and do something about it. I was gonna get another wedge pillow, but then spotted something which looked even better: a mattress lifter. No, I'd never heard of a mattress lifter before either, but this particular one had excellent reviews and looked ideal. Haven't ordered it yet, but might do tomorrow.

Changing tack completely, something else I'm thinking of giving a go is CBD oil (which is legal in the UK). It's expensive, but if it improves my sleep and helps me get off the quetiapine, it'll be worth it.

The tl;dr version: my eye is healing fine, but vision is blurry. Suspect a couple of meds is causing it, but need help with getting off the meds and in improving my dire quality of sleep.
