Hello again everyone. Once again I am looking for any other member who has Crohn's arthritis....more specifically most acutely in their hands. Would you please raise your hand if that sounds like you? I would very much appreciate being able to dialog one-on-one with a fellow member about this quite specific issue. Thanks in advance as always.

Yep, I can barely move my hands some days the pain is terrible!

Let me ask you this, does Crohn's arthritis always progress slowly? Because in the last year I have literally felt my hands getting worse and worse and worse heard a year ago I thought I had five years left of good use, now I think maybe one year if it keeps going at this rate. Honestly I would love to know the difference between rheumatoid and osteoarthritis and its relationship to Crohn's

I have Crohn's arthritis, also called enteropathic arthritis, in my feet and hands. Enteropathic arthritis is an inflammatory arthritis that does not usually cause joint destruction, not the case for one of my feet, it can be divided into two types depending on the types of joints involved. I've been dealing with it for about 5 years, there are times when it doesn't bother me much and other times when I have trouble using my hands. Sometimes treating the underlying Crohn's will help with the arthritis. If you're not seeing a rheumatologist you may want to make an appointment with one, my arthritis was tricky to treat and my GI recommended getting an opinion from one.

I have it as well and see a rheumatologist. Unfortunately he cannot prescribe meds for me due to drug interactions. He did suggest therapy mittens that you place in microwave to heat up and then wear for about 20 mins. I just got them before my last hospital visit for crohn’s flare, so have not tried them. I will say that being on Stelara I have felt more joint pains than with the other biological drugs.

I got more joint pains after starting stelara too! And bone pain? It’s weird but it’s a deep pain in my lower arm bones and drives me nutty!

I'm noticing I'm getting pimples above certain joints now is that a thing?

I just had an MRI and found I have arthritis related to my Crohn's also. Started in my wrists and back (which I recently found out is actually my SI joint, not my back). Just this week I've started to have pain in my fingers along with everything else. Just wondering if anybody finds arthritis gloves or wrist guards to help with the pain or heat/ice? Currently taking Humira which is helping my Crohn's but not doing much for the arthritis pain.

Comet, I've been wearing a wrist guard throughout the night because I also have carpal tunnel in one wrist and I have noticed that I have more pain and stiffness in the morning after wearing the wrist guard. That has me a little afraid to try any braces during the day for arthritis pain. I'm currently on Stelara and that doesn't seem to be helping with any joint pain yet, however, the celebrex I'm taking is helping.
