Switching biologics: When is a new biologic started?

I'm in the middle of a flare up. Took Remicade infusion on Wednesday and it caused immediate reaction. I talked about the reaction in a previous post. I don't want to be posting a lot but when should I start a new biologic? Is it after 2 months, the interval between one infusion and the other or does it take longer? When would Remicade clear my system? I'm not well and I really need to put my symptoms under control as has been the case when I was on Remicade.

It's best to call & talk to your dr & see how he wants to handle it & what medication he wants to switch you too.

When I switched from Remicade to Humira there wasn't a delay between the two.

My rheumatologist just had me substitute the new biologic when the last one ( that was no longer working) was due again so there was no extended waiting peurnriod. The doctor would normally be the one to send in the order. I havent heard of the patient scheduling a new one.

Looking at your profile minnietoty I also failed methotrexate and azathioprine. With the first I got the same flu like illness that I got after Remicade. Azathioprine made me feel horrible. Turns out I dont produce enough of the enzyme to metabolize it.
